Job Title: End-User Computing Engineer (EUC)
Duration: Until 31/03 (but likely to extend as potential 12 months work thereafter)
Rate: £600-£800 per day via an approved umbrella company dependant on experience
Location: Hybrid, Corsham 2 days per week
Overview
The End-User Computing Engineering Service will support the technical team responsible for the design, development, scaling, documentation, building and validation of the projects virtual desktop solution.
The detailed responsibilities of the team include:
- The design, development, reference building and validation of the projects virtual desktop solutions.
- Support the scale out and evergreening of the VDI capability across multiple complex multitenancy use cases.
- Assist the design of a disaster recovery and business continuity capability from a virtual desktop and supporting services perspective.
- Production and review of all levels of design artefacts.
- Supporting wider project system testing activities.
- Working with Service Management to resolve issues.
Essential skills, qualifications, and experience
In order to deliver this service, it is essential that individuals have:
- At least 3 years demonstrable hands on experience of: o The design, development, documentation, building and validation of virtual desktop environments. o VMWare Horizon.
- Demonstrable experience with:
- VMware AppVolumes and VMware UEM (or similar user environment management experience).
- Experience of Windows 10 within a VDI environment including desktop optimization.
- Preferably at least one of the following professional certifications that have been obtained within the last five years:
- VMware VCP (Preferably VCP-DTM)
- Microsoft MCSA Windows 10 or MCSA Windows Server 2012 (or higher)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas.
- Competency in MS Office Suite.
Desirable skills, qualifications, and experience
In order to deliver this service, it is desirable that individuals have:
- Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence and Bamboo) to record, document and test work.
- Experience of:
- Working within the public sector, preferably Defence, and ideally with Defence Digital (formerly ISS).
- Delivering accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector.
- A Computer Science university-based education at Bachelors or Masters level.
